our process

Red Bank F.C. believes in fostering a love for the game first prior to placing an emphasis on winning and losing. Our main priority is to create an environment where children can explore the game, have fun, and ultimately learn the skills needed to problem solve within the game as they compete with their teammates together.

What age groups do you service?

Red Bank F.C. currently has boys and girls teams that range in age from U8 to U16 (U stands for Under- Under 8 and Under 16. This translates to generally 7 years old to 15  years old). A few additional items related to age and team placement can be found below.

NEW AS OF FALL 2026/SPRING 2027

New Jersey Youth Soccer is switching to align to school year rather than birth year. The school year calendar used by soccer will be Aug 1 to July 31. This translates to the following age groups and team placement for the Spring 2026/Fall 2027 soccer year

Age Group    # of Players     Birth Date Range (2026/2027 Seasons)

U8                   7v7                     Aug 1, 2018 – July 31, 2019

U9                   7v7                     Aug 1, 2017 – July 31, 2018

U10                 7v7                     Aug 1, 2016 – July 31, 2017

U11                 9v9                     Aug 1, 2015 – July 31, 2016

U12                 9v9                     Aug 1, 2014 – July 31, 2015

U13                 11v11                Aug 1, 2013 – July 31, 2014

Additionally, in the state of New Jersey, it is possible for a child can be registered for travel soccer beginning at the age of 6. However, the first level of organized soccer that is available is U8 which means that they will be playing alongside mostly second graders (7 year olds). In general, it is possible for players to play on teams if they are younger than the specified age range.

Red Bank F.C. teams compete in “travel” leagues which are generally considered a step up from recreational soccer. A team’s league and level placement is based on where they are in their development process.

  • MOSA, or Monmouth Ocean Soccer Assocation, levels of Premier and National 1 through 4
  • EDP, or Elite Development Program

Teams compete for ten games in both the spring and fall seasons. Red Bank F.C. registration is inclusive of both the spring and the fall seasons.

  • Of the 10 games, 5 will be away and 5 will be home.
  • Games are generally on Sundays and can be scheduled anywhere from the morning to the late afternoon as a lot depends on field availability that the different clubs are managing.
  • In addition to the 10 games, teams normally schedule 2 practices a week on one of the home fields which range from 60 to 90 minutes depending on the team
  • Practices usually begin a month or more prior to the season
  • Other commitments vary depending on the culture of each team such as competing in indoor winter leagues and tournaments. These are not included in the registration fee.

Most teams we compete against are located in Monmouth and Ocean counties as per the MOSA league. Depending on the teams that will grouped together in a flight for the season, most of the towns we travel to tend to be 15-25 minutes away. However, there are a few towns that compete that are up to an hour away which you may end up traveling to perhaps once per season.

The fall season begins early September and runs through mid-November. Practices generally begin a month before. This is the first season where all players will need to be newly registered. Registration should be completed prior to the commencement of practice in the beginning of the summer so that uniforms can be ordered to start the season.

The spring season usually begins with the first Sunday in April and runs through mid-June. Practices usually begin a month before. Partial registration can be completed for a half year for players who are joining to compete in the spring.

Red Bank F.C. strives to keep the costs of registration down to allow as many kids as possible access to high quality organized soccer.

Our current costs are $300 for Red Bank residents and $400 for non-residents.

The registration fee is due prior to the fall season and includes both the fall and spring seasons. A partial registration fee (50% of the annual fee) may be paid for a player joining for the second half of the year in the spring. The registration fee also includes the cost of the uniform, which will be ordered prior to the start of the season.

Home games are played at East Side Park or Count Basie Park. East Side Park is a grass field setup for 7v7 (U8 – U10 ages), while Count Basie Park has a variety of artificial turf fields with lights which can accommodate 9v9 (U11 – U12 ages) and 11v11 (U13 – U19 ages). See our Facilities page for more details.

In mid-spring, Red Bank F.C. will advertise communications for a try-out session to start the process of forming a new team. Players that attend the try-out will have the opportunity join the newly formed U8 team for the year (both fall and spring). Older players will be put in contact with the coach of existing teams. Players that have missed the tryout date can contact us to inquire about availability. In order to completely sign up for either the fall or spring seasons, the registration process must be completed.
